Several times a year I take on new orders. Despite the fact that each painting is made to order according to your preferences, it is important to keep in mind that the painting is created in the current and unique style of the Maltese artist Julia Borg. To get an idea of the style, please check out my portfolio

We will work with you to create a one-of-a-kind Julia Borg piece. This process includes collaborating together to gather inspiration from your space and previous works of mine.

Collaboration in which your vision and my artistic experience merge together, creating truly wonderful works. Each commission holds a special significance, telling a story and becoming a cherished focal point in your space

Be sure there are no two pieces are alike and for your commission, you are getting the only and original artwork

Each piece of art is created by hand using a combination of brush strokes and unique techniques of the artist. The artwork is signed by Julia by hand and comes with a certificate of authenticity confirming its value.

How to order a painting

Step 1

Your name/surname, contact details, your social media links
I recommend sending photos of the room in which you will place the artwork, as well as any appropriate sizes of walls or furniture. I will familiarize myself with your space where you plan to hang your painting and help you determine the best size. We will also determine the colour scheme that is preferable for you.
You may specify the subject and style matter that is close to heart. Send examples of paintings, more or less suitable, for you. This will help me to create a unique visual document for you, including important details, colours and compositions that you have conceived for your unique artwork. Also, paintings from the Julia Borg portfolio will help you determine which style you prefer.

Step 2

Meeting with the Artist

If you would like, we can arrange an online meeting with the artist using Skype, zoom or another convenient program for you. At this stage, the last details and the deadline are clarified
If you are in Malta, a personal meeting is possible. I also recommend visiting places in Malta where my works of art are exhibited. Please follow the link to view the list of addresses

Step 3

Research & Inspiration

As soon as we settle all the details, according to your wishes, the artist creates a sketch draft. If you have chosen a certain place in Malta or Gozo as the subject of your painting, then at this stage the artist visits this place and photographs all the relevant sights. Next comes the process of agreeing on the details

Step 4

Creative Process

And now the magic of creativity begins. After the final approval of the sketch, the process of creating an original art work starts. If you would like, some photo and video stages of painting creation will be sent to you. After completing the art work, you will receive videos and photos and begin preparing for shipping. (via email, onedrive, google disc).

Step 5

Packaging and Shipping

Preparation of accompanying documentation (Invoices, certificate of authenticity, postal labels). You can see how the documents look like here. Prior to delivery or pick-up, the paintings are well packed in bubble wrap and a cardboard box to protect the painting and the frame (if any). You can get acquainted with the stages of packaging here
Please note, Your order may be subject to import duties and taxes which are applied when the delivery reaches that destination. I have no control over these charges and I cannot predict their amount. You will be responsible for payment of any such import duties and taxes. Please contact your local customs office for further information before placing your orde

Deadlines for Custom-made Art

The approximate creation time is from 6 weeks. Due to the fact that most paintings are created with oil paints, a technique with many layers and rich strokes / textures, so the painting dries from 3 weeks after readiness. Also, the timing is affected by the size of the canvas and the artist's schedule at the time of applying for custom-made Art.

If you additionally ordered the service "Frame for painting", the readiness time may increase depending on the material and design of the frame, you will be notified in advance.

Materials used

Canvas on a stretcher frame with a deep edge of 3 cm. High quality. (Winsor & Newton’s, PINTURA, MUSEO)
By agreement, the canvas can be:
- ready-made or custom-made with your size;
- 2cm depth for better combination with a decorative frame;
- it is possible to use only 100% cotton canvas, then the finished artwork will be sent in a tube. The stretch on the wooden frame is done by you in the service at your location.

Oil and acrylic on paper 240g/m2, it is acid-free and specially designed for oil and acrylic paintings.

Oil/acrylic/oil pastel/watercolor paints are used from professional series with a high content of pigment produced by various world brands. (Winsor & Newton’s, Schmincke, Lefranc&Bourgeois, Pebeo, Liquitex, Golden Artist Colors)
