I Was Looking for Spring

I Was Looking for Spring began with a study painted in Giverny in spring 2026. Surrounded by gardens awakening into colour, I wanted to capture not every individual flower, but the sensation of being there.

Back in my studio, that first impression developed into this vibrant semi-abstract garden painting. Layers of saturated pink, blue, violet, yellow and green move across the canvas through loose, expressive brushwork. Flowers emerge and dissolve, creating a landscape that feels both observed and remembered.

This original contemporary floral painting is inspired by Giverny, Impressionism and the emotional power of colour. It holds the energy of a garden in full bloom — spontaneous, luminous and alive.
